By placing objects over each other, they
effectively become stacked.
As a review, the commands under Draw, Order on the
Drawing toolbar are:
Bring to Front - Moves the object
to the top layer
Send to Back - Moves the object
to the bottom layer
Bring Forward - Moves the object up one
level at a time
Send Backward - Moves the object down one
level at a time
Objects can be aligned with each other by the
sides, middle, top or bottom edges.
Objects can be distributed so that they are equal
distance from each other, either vertically or horizontally.
Using these features, clipart can be enhanced with
other objects to form new objects, then finally grouped together
to form a complete, new object.
Grouping objects provides more control when moving
or copying this new element on the slide and is recommended as a
final step.
All these commands are found on the
JOV7
Draw toolbar, under Draw, then
Align or Distribute.
Practicing these elements
1. Create a blank title
only page.
2. From the Menu Bar,
select Insert, Picture, From File, then select manuals1.
3. Add a text box and type the words
Module :t, shadow and color it if necessary.
4. Using
either the marquee technique, or select multiple items using the
shift key option (select the first item, hold down the Shift key
and then select the other items whilst keeping the shift key held
down), select the 2 items i.e. the text box and the
clipart.
5. Go the Draw toolbar, select Align or
Distribute, Align Center.
6. With the 2 objects still selected,
go the Draw toolbar, select Draw, Group. This groups the items
together to become one object.
7. From the AutoShapes list, choose
Flowcharts, select a diamond shape.
8. Draw the diamond right over the
clipart, add fill techniques if desired (recommend you take out
lines). Adjust sizing accordingly.
9. With the diamond selected go to the
Draw toolbar, choose Draw, Order, Send to Back. This places the
diamond behind the clipart with text.
10.
Select the diamond and the clipart (using
the marquee technique).
11.
Go to the Draw toolbar, select Draw, Group.
This groups
the items together to become one object.
12. Right mouse drag and copy this grouped object 2
more times.
13. Edit the text to read Module 2 and the last one
to read Module 3.
14. Select all 3 items (marquee technique)
15. From the Draw toolbar, select Align or
Distribute, choose Align Top. This aligns the 3 objects smoothly.
16. From the Draw toolbar, select Align or
Distribute, choose Distribute Horizontally. This ensures even
spaces in between the objects.
17. Once completed, it is recommended that the
objects be
grouped.
