MASTER SLIDE

Masters and Templates - what's the difference? The slide masters hold text and other elements that make provide consistency for presentations. For example the title would be centered, bolded and shadowed and a font size and style defined for every slide in the presentation.

The templates are preset color and font schemes that also give your presentation a consistent and balanced look. PowerPoint comes with at least 50 templates with colors chosen to compliment each other and are used for the background, the title, body text, lines, bullets, fills and shadows. There are 8 colors in each design with the option of adding additional colors if required.

Adjusting the Master:  You may add an element to repeat on every slide by adding or changing elements to the Slide Master. This is where you would adjust bullets, add company classification information , add slide numbers, add a date, add a logo or change fonts and colors.

Use the Slide Master to simplify modifications that may be made to your presentation at a later time. If you decide that you wish to change the font color for an entire presentation, without having do it manually on every single slide, follow the steps below. Remember that changing the master only affects elements, or slides, that were created using the master.

To Make Font Changes Using the Master Slide:

1) On the Menu Bar, select View, Master , then Slide Master

2) This is the screen you will see.

3) Select all of the text.

4) From the "Format" menu, select "Font".

5) A pop up box will appear showing all of the formatting options available for fonts. Anything selected here will apply to every slide that is based on the master. Here we have clicked on the color box and selected a color from the basic palette.

6) After clicking on "OK" from the font format box, this what your master will look like. If you like the color, close the Master by clicking on the Master toolbar.

7) This is what your basic slide looks like with the new color.
